Saccadometer software

The Saccadometer system allows easy and quick collection of saccadic responses within the shortest physiologically possible time (100 saccades in 5 min) with minimum influence of subject's fatigue. The eye movement measurement is automated and synchronised with stimuli presentation. The user’s task is reduced to checking the correctness of the sensor placement and giving instructions. The calibration of the eye movement relies on the fixed angular separation between targets and the VOR cancellation response which ensures that the head movements does not influence target position in relation to the eyes (no head restraints needed).

The examination results, after downloading it to the PC, can be analysed using the advanced LatencyMeter application. The process of data analysis is fully automated so the user does not have to be an expert in eye movement research and analysis. Any invalid responses are automatically rejected (automatic validation based on statistical analysis) and results (both profiles and numerical values) are displayed on the easy to understand cumulative plots.

The LatencyMeter application provides number of visualisation schemes: a basic cumulative plots of saccadic profiles both in eye position and eye velocity domains, the latency analysis using histogram plots. It also includes the reciprobit visualisation based on LATER model (R.H.S. Carpenter). Several export options allow data to be analysed by the statistical software of the user's choice. The user can customise data export format using an easily-learnt export script.
