Saccadometer - Integrated Research Environment

The SACCADOMETER was developed in close collaboration between a team at the Institute of Biocybernetics and Biomedical Engineering, Polish Academy of Sciences, led by Dr Jan Ober, and Prof. Roger Carpenter from UK. It is an international innovation, bringing together recent achievements in understanding the neural systems controlling eye movements, the latest development in eye movement measurement technology, as well as advances in microelectronics and signal processing technology. Uniquely, it allows doctors to perform strict quantitative evaluations of saccadic dynamic performance (latency and velocity), using micro-miniature, non-invasive equipment. Because it enables very large numbers of individual trials to be carried out in a short period of time (more than a thousand per hour) and can be used by relatively untrained personnel, it enables much more precise measurements to be performed.
