System Blink-It

The system Blink-It consists of user's personal part which detects blinks and sends them to the PC, and receiver part connected to the PC. The user's personal part of the Blink-It system consists of the blinks sensor mounted on the person's head and of the control unit connected to the sensor. The user's personal part is battery powered and thus completely safe to use. Detected blinks are transmitted to the receiver part through the wireless infra-red connection (IrDA). The receiver module is connected to the computer through serial port in USB or RS-232 standard.

On the computer side the user has three applications to be used with the Blink-It system. The basic one is the BlinkPen which allows plain text writing through the hierarchical table of letters and actions. More advanced control over PC can be achieved with the BlinkMouse application which allows the user to control the mouse cursor and write a text. Finally the complementary BlinkSwitch application turns the Blink-It sensor into a switch-like device by emulating keyboard keystroke sequences in response to blinks, what allows the user to interface with any preferred accessibility software available on the market.
